JamesTemperoCoverLetter2026.docx

Hey everyone. Recently I found a job on Seek that looked like a good fit for me. I started the application process, but forgot to send in my application. I couldn’t let a good cover letter go to waste, so I thought I would share it here. Thanks for your support.

Kia ora,

I am writing to apply for the Social Media Content Creator position. I would love the opportunity to join your team.

I’m a friendly, enthusiastic person who is keen to learn and grow. I have spent just over five years working as a Marketing Assistant at [redacted], with my role changing this past year to Marketing and Fundraising Coordinator.

My work has involved management of social media, websites, newsletters, design work, and content creation, including written and video content. The other half of my role involves fundraising, which includes maintaining our donor database, communicating with donors, building relationships, and writing grants.

I have a passion for content creation and video editing. For the past eight years I have taken part in the 48 hours film competition, picking up multiple script nominations and even an acting nomination for my performance in the hit short Him and Her. Outside of this, I enjoy making content for my close friends Instagram story. If we get close enough as we work together, I may even add you.

I’m looking to continue to grow in my social media and content creation skills, and this role looks like the perfect next challenge. I think I would be a great fit for the team at Hair Plus.

I have always had a passion for hair, especially on my head. When I was younger, I loved to buy hair gel and spike my hair up in fun and interesting ways. I got a real kick out of it, and it is this kick that I think I can bring to the content I create for you.

As a heads up (ha ha, heads up), I am bald, but that does not deter my passion for hair care. Since the role involves being on camera, I suggest I wear a wig. Look Sharp has some particularly realistic ones that would fool me. As I am bald, I will be able to glue the wig to my head. So, while I am demonstrating one of your great shampoos, the wig will remain in place.

If there are any concerns that I will be seen in public, tarnishing the image of the brand by being exposed as a balding baddie rather than a man with a beautiful hairline, I would be willing to wear a wig when going out in public to put your mind at ease. I am here to work with you in finding a mutual solution. Don’t worry guys, I’ve got this.

Thank you for taking the time to consider my application. While my hairline may be receding, my passion for your organisation will only grow, as if I had recently had a trip to Turkey. I look forward to hairing from you.

Ngā mihi nui,

James
